The entire world is based on destiny the blossoming of a bud into a flower and subsequently turning into a garland or a fruit is controlled by its destiny. One such destiny was that of the Indian team, winning the ICC world cup 2011. The event was not an overnight action. India did not lift the cup just by the six hit by Dhoni or by the partnership of Ghambir with Kholi. It can be said, it all began when the Indian team lost to Australia in the 2003 finals or even before. It was when Ganguly wanted to have a team that was of international standards. It’s only because of that desire that the likes of MS Dhoni, Ghambir and many more got into the team. The cheap loss at the 2007 world cup also plays a part, because of that bitter loss we got a great coach in Gary and a cool captain in Dhoni.
But, are these the only factors that got us the cup? I doubt it. During the world cup 2011 it had become a tradition in my room to order a pizza during the mid innings and enjoy the second half of the match. The tradition slowly turned in to a superstition that, pizza has to be ordered if India has to win. During the finals my mind voice said, “What a stupid belief is this, how can pizza and team India be related?” so I decided to break the tradition. Pizza was not ordered at the mid innings break. The 275 scored by Srilanka, though was not daunting was enough to bring butterflies in everyone’s stomach. Still mind voice was optimistic. It was the second ball of Slinga Mallinga’s over and Shewag was out LBW. In no time the second wicket was also lost. It was the time for the Pizza to save the day. We ordered two large corn exotica pizzas, as soon as it was delivered the stars started to shine on team India and finally we won.
When it comes to Indian cricket match all the illogical stuffs done by the fans contribute to its win. It’s never illogical, its idayalogical ;) .
